Caterpillar 3208 Solutions This sub-forum is hosted by Mike Hohnstein who has been at this kind of thing for 50+ years now, guess I'm addicted. The saga has been all about progressively larger shop space since then. Honestly, never wanted to get into the CAT 3208's that were originally considered to be a throwaway engine but that's all that works in a FC in my world. Same thing with my Ford toter, that came with a NA, too much effort to hang in a 6, so been at it with the CAT V-8 for 20 years now. In reality you can get excellent life out of a CAT 3208 if it's built correctly. Post your questions about the CAT 3208 engines here and Mike will try to help you out.

I would think it would be cheaper to buy a 225 or 250HP with a turbo and install it on your coach, but you will have to modify the doghouse for it to fit. Save your money & upgrade to an 87-89FC w/300HP turbo you won't regret it.

Modifying the dog house is the least of problems installing a turbo engine where an NA was once.

I've done both installed the 250 hp not a big deal for a seasoned athlete. And upgraded to a 88 fc . If you're not a mechanic don't waste your time just upgrade. If u are go for it you need to start with a school bus from the auction as a doner

Just to clarify, N/A or non-turbo 3208's are totally different engines, nothing interchanges, other than the water pump.

You want the power of a 3208 turbo?
Trade for a newer bus that came with it!
Seriously.

Scotty I need more power.

When I saw this post I thought someone was talking about more power from the 3208Turbo 300hp. I don’t want to hijack someone’s thread, I’m gonna ask it here.

How can you get more power out of the 3208 300hp turbo with out reducing engine life ?

Put it in a boat with unlimited cooling. That's how.
