Default HWH down light out

One of the amber lights that show the jack is down was out. (I just keep finding more to fix!) so I Finley grounded the in wire and it lights up. So bad mercury switch, I took it apart saved the mercury in a jar to get rid of the right way. Looked around the shop and found the parts to make a new one. After the epoxy dries I will get pics.

Top is old mercury switch, middle is parts found in shop, last is new switch. Crushed tube in vice and put heat shrink tubing on end, soldered wires to glass mercury switch, filled tube with epoxy and insert switch. Cover wires with heavy heat shrink inside and out.

The mercury switch looks like one out of an old style analog wall thermostat. Is that where you got it?

I had a project some years ago and was able to buy a pack of 10 mercury switches, here in CA they don't sell to anyone and the old mercury switch are being phased out. SO I kept the rest of them!! Hang on to the old wall t- stats!
