Default Driver Seats

Hello Everyone,

I want to replace the Driver seat in my coach. I would like to get the opinions of this forum on who makes the best seat. The one in my coach now kills my back after a few hours of driving.

Hello Les,

Your coach is in a different league than our FC and I am by no means an expert is this area.

However, I recently crossed the country and back (5,000 + miles) in Shane's Bella Vita PT 40 and he had recently installed air ride truck seats in it. Wow!

I was so impressed with the comfort and ability to regulate back, lumbar and hip pressure as well as height etc, I bought and installed some in our FC. The ones I put in are from National Seating. They were new "take outs" from a NASCAR toy hauler.

Like everything else, truck seats come in lots of flavors. I was only familiar with the real utilitarian ones until I traveled some distance with Shane's and although his are not the fanciest, they sure function well.

They are also available in a variety of widths, leathers, and fabrics. Options include with heat and lumbar cyclers etc.

I prefer a firm seat with contour support and after this experience I don't think I would ever go back to the traditional RV type seat.

Below is a link to a company that deals with a variety of manufactures. I did not purchase mine here but the site provides some good examples of what is available.

Also, there are photos of the leather Nationals I just put in our 83 FC.

Due to the lateral slide issue in the FC, I maintained the existing pedestal with the lateral slide and electric functions. For now, I am only using the the air for three air bags on the back and lumbar area of the seat. There may be a way to change to a full air ride base and maintain the lateral function, but I have not figured that out yet and may not need to. These are real comfortable the way they are.

Default Best Seats

Les:

I sort of think that seats are like hats. You have to try them on before you can be sure you will get one that fits. Our M380 has seats by Villa International. They are adjustable 6 way, heated, with arm rest and the passenger seat reclines. Both swivel as well.

Flex Steel also makes excellent seats. We had those in a old Bird and I thought they were comfortable and they sure were durable.

My input and it may be worth what it cost.

Hi Les,

David Brady (01 LXi) and I are planning on changing our drivers seats (Villa on ISRI air base) for either ISRI or Recaro OTR drivers air seats.

Stephen Birtles, Dupree Products, is looking into a group buy for us to get lower prices. If interested, let Stephen, on here, know.

I'm with you Les, my back aches after a cross-country trip. I'd be
interested in something like this:

Fabric is not an issue for me as I'd have Muriel's recover it to match
my interior anyway.

David, I might be interested as well. When I did the FC last year I believe I spent about $1400 for the pilot and co-pilot seats. I would imagine the seat shown would be considerably more. If you fellows get pricing let me know. The seats I used where National Seats I believe. They are pretty nice but I don't think they are in the class of Recaro or these ISRA seats. If I was going to replace the seats in the Bella, I would only go first class or not at all.

I'll tweak Stephen again. Seems there is more interest than he thought.
