Default A different tool to thump tires

I was at West Marine the other day. Not looking for anything special, just one of those impulse buying trips. Came across the "Fish Bat". I bought the only one in the store thinking I could save a fish's life .

Actually I thought it may make a good "tire thumper" as it has a good hook on the handle, is made out of composite material, and does not have a round cross section so it won't roll around. It even floats, so that will be handy .
