Default Muffler weight

How much does an FC muffler weigh? I am going to cut the bolts off the muffler clamps this weekend to pull the muffler, if the weather permits, and instal a length of flex tubing in its place. How much does the muffler weigh? I may need to place jack stands under it so it doesn't break any ribs when I try to catch it.

Rent a sawzall if you don't have one, cut rascal out of there, get a couple band clamps and replace with a length of appropriate diameter pipe. No flex pipe. Muff weighs about 40 #'s.

Mike,
This is stage one. I have a Y pipe with a cutout valve on the way so I can engage the muffler when entering campgrounds (or driving down my street) and open it up on the highway. It's a wife thing. Also, I already have the flex pipe and clamps. I want to run without the muffler on the RATS trip to feel the difference.

Mike is right, 40 pounds is about it. I just used my belly as a jack stand when I removed mine! A creeper plus a big belly makes a great combination. Sorry, no pictures on this one...Randys picture above is on par with what I am talk'n about.

As Randy said too, wife will never know. Personally, with the drivers window open, I like the mild exhaust "rap" you get on a hard pull, enjoy!

PS, nix the flex pipe...
