I think Rick posted a Leece-Neville p/n for his SP a couple of years back, Yuma NAPA could get it for me if I call ahead. Not sure that's the same alt for my CAT arrangement. Maybe the CAT shop in Blythe could help cross the CAT alt to an aftermarket model?
You dont need a Cat shop to buy a new alt. Just follow Randy's advice and buy a J mount.

You might get lucky and find someone at Q with one in their parts box. I carry a spare, since I only have one. If I had two I probably wouldn't worry about it. My spare is a reman that came with the bus from th PO ten years ago.

With engine off, check battery voltage at the battery.
With engine running check the voltage at the battery.
If the voltage did not change you have a charging issue.

Lets say the engine off voltage was 12.5 volts, and the engine running voltage was
13.8 volts,your charging.

Another redneck way to check to see if the alternator is charging is with the engine running, see if a screwdriver or wrench will stick (magnetically) to the back of the alternator.
The alternator creates a magnetic field when charging.
Be carefull not to stick your fingers in the fan or stick the wrench onto a power cable!!.
Rick did help me change the one on the blue SP,i reached in from the side louvered door and held a wrench on the nuts while he unscrewed the bolts.
One other thing, for some reason BB used 2 bolts and nuts on the mount,i replece the 2 bolts with one long bolt and it makes the job so much easier.
No need to remove the primus to do the job.

screwdriver or any piece of metal on the back alt bearing is where to check this

OK well the replacement #110-555JHO that Dave Styff posted from 2015 is now sold by NAPA made by Wilson. They can get it in tomorrow, so that’s what I’m gonna do. About $300.

I wonder if that 400$ diagnostic included the magnetism test?

Very few people know about the mag test.
