Default Series 60 Bluebird install oil pressure sending unit

Does anyone know the brand or part number of the Bluebird installed oil pressure sending unit that sends oil pressure readings for the Detroit Series 60 engine to the dash mounted oil pressure gauge? I'm told that the sending unit should be the same brand as the dash gauge. It is also my understanding that there is a separate Detriot Diesel oil pressure sending unit, on the engine, which communicates with the DDECIII. This unit is supposed to be capable of shutting down the engine in the event of low oil pressure.

Not sure what your WL has but my 97 BMC has VDO brand gauges, cockpit style.

Here is a possible source to help you identify the brand and model of your guages.

http://www.egauges.com/vdo_main.asp

Once you know the Brand and model, selecting the appropiate replacements should not be difficult.

A troubleshooting guide is available on the website.

Hope this helps.

Royal,
The gauges are made by Teleflex.
I have replaced my Oil temp, pressure, & water temp guages and senders three times. Seriously! I have never gotten them to work correctly. I got feed up messing with them and put in a Silverleaf VMS pc, on the recommendation of several techs and owners whom could not chase down these gremlins either. It is not flawless but it works better than the old steam gauges. It is very versitile and can be set up any way you like for the display. I wish I could help but I gave up the dash guages 5 years ago. If I were going back to the old style gauges I would go with the VDO brand. Some of the senders have 1 or 2 wires, and as I recall if you use a sealant or teflon tape on the threads of the single wire type it may not make a ground connection off the block.

Thanks Kurt. Since the rest of my gauges are working I am going to try to replace the oil pressure sending unit and gauge.
