Default Oil pressure

Left Coachworx after getting some needed repairss an looked at oil pressure on dash an seen very little pressure. Turned around an had them look at this problem for me, I was on my way to Stuart, Fl. which is about 190 south of them. I had just top off the oil so I knew it was full, but no pressure. We put a gauge on the oil senting unit an had normal pressure but still 0 at the gauge. Need to install a better gauge in the back by the engine to make sure I have good pressure I think. The gauge on the dash has always worked fine so I can't understand what happen to it. Is it just another part that dicided to give me trouble or do I have a bigger problem?

Had the same problem on my 88 a few years ago when I was in the middle of nowhere. I watched the engine oil temp and engine water temp and noticed they did not rise so I kept going until I found a Detroit service facility. They checked the oil pressure and found it was good. Changed out the sensor.

Probably the oil pressure sensor on the engine, but check the attached wire, it may be corroded or broken

My oil guage does this from time to time and springs back to life with a couple strong taps on the guage. I actually reads below zero when this happens, which led me to tap on it in the first place. My tachometer does similar thing, it will read low and with a couple taps, the indicated rpm will come up a couple hundred.

Course if you have a computer engine, you can get the silverleaf and know what your engine sees. Cheapest money I ever spent.
