Default Traveling Alone

My wife has decided that she should stay home with the kids, but I'm still committed (or should be) to coming down to the WOG Rally. Since this is my first time on a long drive in the bird alone, any words of wisdom?

Drive it like you stole it! Looking forward to seeing the new ride I usually leave work Friday, get to Wytheville and then on to Pine Mountain Saturday. Fuel is cheap in Wytheville and cheaper yet in South Carolina. Use gasbuddy to find the best deal along your route.

Relax, enjoy the ride and ensure you have plenty of snacks and coffee.

Make sure all the windows are open/closed the way you want them; all the drawers are fully closed; the stuff in the sink is rattle-free; etc.; etc. What few times I have driven alone this is the type of stuff I forget and am used to Marilyn taking care of.

I have never traveled with ANYBODY else along for the ride so I wouldn't know how to act and I actually would rather travel by myself, so that I can stop when I want to for a walk to the bathroom in the back, or get a drink, or my favorite TAKE A NAP.

It was fun traveling with a group back from Quartzite in 2010 but I don't drive that many miles per day anymore

Dan,
My wife had some pains yesterday and has decided to get some X-ray's done on Monday and see the report. She thinks she is passing a kidney stone or pieces of one. She may come up later in the week, but I am coming alone on Sunday! I plan to take it easy and watch the other Birds fly by me. Fridge is full of soft drinks and I am very anxious to attend my first WOG rally. Hope your trip alone is relaxing and enjoyable. See you at WOG!!
