What is it with these busses? We were approached unexpectedly this morning with a bizarre request. A long time friend of my hubby's is back in town following his Huntingtons disease diagnosis and divorce. He has been crashing at various friends houses while he tried to get his life back in order. I do not know this friend but he worked at our agency with my hubby since he started there back in 1999. Out of the blue, he texts Tony and says, "hey if things don't work out with Mike (the guy he is currently staying with) can I come crash at your place?" We have a 2 bed/ 2 bath home and a daughter still at home. I get super defensive and tell Tony this guy is thinking our bus is a option....HEII NO! He thinks I am crazy. Well, he goes to meet this friend this afternoon and texts me and confirms my big fear. He had the balls to suggest he live in my prized bus! I won't even let family stay in there, let alone someone I don't know and is unfortunately losing his mind because of this disease.

Am I the only bird owner that gets these unfortunate propositions?

My bus is not a guest house, for friends or family.
Nobody stays in my bus but Carol and I.
We don't have a couch, sorry,no room for guests.

It's just an old school bus, right? What's the big deal?

Guests visiting for a week, maybe, if they're RV experienced.

Not to mention with Huntington’s disease , it is very likely he will become more and more dependent on others and require a primary caregiver, sooner than later. He should be with family or people that will have his best interest at heart. Not drifting.

Exactly! He is in a bit of denial and thinks he is not showing any signs of the disease yet. I spent 5 minutes with him and thought he was high on drugs, just by watching his bizarre movements and erratic speech. I feel terrible for the guy, honestly, but I am not his family and he is not my responsibility. Heck, we still have a daughter we are trying to push out of the nest, not looking for new boarders.
Just amazes me how others must think of our bus and how they are so bold to ask to either use it for a weekend or crash in it for a few nights. That's MY hideout!

They'd stand a better chance of me loaning them my husband, than my bus.

We had family who we love dearly come for thanksgiving. Gave up our bedroom and we stayed in the bus. It's a funny thing, apparently only you guys can understand.

Did the same thing when my dear mother came for a visit. She took our room and we took the bus.
She's a smoker and I just couldn't risk it. I loaned her my car for about 9 months and she swore she wouldn't smoke in it...yeah right.
2 in cabin air filters later and it's hardly noticeable.
