Default John Finn picture page

This page is the official John Finn Memorial page in his honor.

A few simple rules:

1. Post all the pictures you have of John and include a short story and/or a place and time info.

2. John had a unique sense of humor so your stories can include some "incorrect" humor if need be, not vulgar or cuss'n but maybe/carefully the humor or emphasis of that particular "moment" in time. Remember, tasteful as you can as "word **** check" is still in place!

3. Post as often as you like

My first encounter with Mr. Finn was when he was considering procuring the Budweiser coach. He posted some pictures and my thought was, "why would anyone want to buy that thing?" Then we ran into him at the Bird's nest and then at a Rally in the Valley. Each time he was always friendly and fun to talk with. The last time I talked with him was in Maine. We were traveling in our M380 and I see this red and white FC parked off the road on the other side of a divided highway. We managed to find a place to turn around to go back and check on John and when we pulled up by his coach he was just getting in the driver seat. He and Buddy had just awakened from their nap. From my encounters with Mr. Finn I thought of him as a lamb disguised as a bear. He certainly was a tremendous asset to WOG and can never be replaced.May God rest his soul.

When John bought that Budweiser bus it has a keg cooler and wine racks everywhere.
A true party bus.
His friends all got really nervous about it,since John was a recovering alcoholic.
They were all afraid he had fallen off the wagon.
But,the first thing scrapped was the keg cooler and i still have the wine racks and bottle racks.
But he did preserve the paint, keeping it as best he could, but the words "Bud " all down the sides were painted over (you can still see it if you look close)

I remember several years back at Birds at the Beach John was giving his tech session on WOG and how to post photos, do a search etc. I wish I could remember who asked John about his tremors, asking "John with the tremors you have in your hands how do you manager to type so well ? " His reply, " I just put my hands on the keyboard and the tremors do the rest."

Over the years John has had numerous nick names. I remember when the "signature police" would send you a message if your signature on WOG was not up to standards. He was the king of "red velvet cake" , guys remember him at the golden trough in Maxton.....lots of cake.

But most of all his name was "FRIEND" always willing to answer a question or give you advise. Karen and I will sure miss him....................

Cali the cat.
Once at a flying J truckstop Cali the cat got out of the bus and ran into the woods.
John stayed there 3 days, trying to catch her.
There a hundred cats at a truckstop, when Cali got tired of getting her butt kicked she came home.
John waited...

Maxton. I remember trying to keep up with Shane . The golden trough. Meeting Woody and Randy. Watching that guy try to ignite that 40 ft BMC that was parked in front of me. Watching Rob change out the alternator on my bus. Lusting over Paul Lazars 97 wide body. Not knowing what a 60 series engine was. Meeting John who got a little annoyed with me because I couldn't park the bus the way he wanted it. Helping to pick up rusty nails You know the good times. The regular stuff we do at rallies that isn't so regular. Oh and BUDDY the beagle not to be confused with BUD two different dogs.

at Maxton.
Woodys grandson was walking Bud the beagle.
Bud was on a leash, they were walking on the tarmac and Bud stopped and did a big number 2,right on the tarmac.
I think the kid was named Nate.
I looked over and saw this happening,i yelled to Nate "you have to pick that up".
Nate looked back at me and said "its not my dog!"

Man was that ever funny!
Hey John!!
