It's true. Some have run into this but were able to work around after pictures of their coach was viewed or they saw the coach in person.

Some have been fortunate to find managers or owners that appreciate all years of Blue Birds. However, we have some reports that others turn us away. One member in spite of having a very nice and well maintained PT was turned away at a southern California camp ground. I have seen "newer" SOB coaches with faded and peeling decals at these age restricted campgrounds. There is no accounting for taste or common sense. Sometimes a recent image or showing up at the gate can work your way in. I have not had that problem recently but did years ago with my SOB.

I ran into this a few summers ago in Illinois while traveling to Boston. I did as someone on here had suggested and asked if I could text them a picture of our rig. After they saw what a Wanderlodge was they welcomed us right in.

One time I arrived and was rejected as they do not allow converted school busses The employee said the owner would have a fit if she let me stay.
I had to turn around by going through the campground past the total junk they allowed in.

In 15 years of ownership we have never been turned away. In the 5 or so instances of finding "age limit" campground policies they either accepted a photo sent or on arrival have all had staff come out and look at the bus...and welcomed us in.

A classic Wanderlodge coach that has been maintained and looks good in my experience will not be a problem.

If we are ever turned away...we will just mosey down the road to another location.

When asked, our 1987 PT becomes a 2010.

Hate to say it but I have seen a Bird that wouldn’t allow in my campground. I’m sure there are others. If you have to, in all fairness, have full disclosure the age limit might be the least evil. But allowances should be made. Nobody would want to drive 20-50 miles out of the way only to find out their rig was too ugly to play on their beach. Having something in writing at least gives some warning. And with that kind of warning you’d have a pretty good idea whether or not you were pretty enough to make the cut regardless of the age. I wouldn’t expect to have a problem at all with my 93 or my previous 83 for that matter. If a CG turned me away they’d probably be doing me a favor. After all, I have certain standards too.

We've only come across this one time. Our schedule was tight, so I didn't want to risk showing up with no reservation. I just dialed the next closest CG and gave them my business.
