Default Slide out drawer - luggage bay

Ed Wimberley allowed me to part with some hard earned cash in exchange for a 40x54” Kwikee super slide 1000# rated drawer on Sunday which we had talked about at the wog rally. I cut a new board to 32" wide out of 3/4" BCX plywood which resulted in a 36.5” wide assembly. Made a cardboard template as well as two riser templates out of the plywood remnants to get the assembly above the lip of the bay, measured about 40 times before drilling the virgin stainless steel floor in the bay. It's a little crooked front to back, the carriage bolts don't all go down exactly straight, but it's in and functioning! Running home for some scrap carpet now to trim the bay out in as I did not want to butcher the original mat.

Yeah, I had a remnant in my attic from a room about to lose some high quality but unremarkable loop pile, now 3M adhered to the deck. Looks good

Recycled plastic wood work great for shims some of the commercial landscape suppliers carry nominal sizes for edging. Working on fiberglass or thin sheet metal, you can also glue it to the back and drill for fasteners. Plywood flat to the metal may get muffed or musty and under 4 inches in any direction it peals off. The high end plastic decking doesnt work as well as some of the cheaper more plastic products
