Default Headliner Material 1981

Looking for old headliner material for 1981 - FC. I understand from the factory that all this material was sold out years ago. I'm interested in the vynal trim material that goes between the panels or a good substitue.

I recall seeing vinyl threshold material that was roughly 2 to 3 inches wide. A cross section would look like a T. This stuff comes in rolls and in different colors. This could possibly work. A commercial carpet distributor may know more and Ill bet a little Internet search might provide the answer. This stuff is softer than the original headliner join strip material but it might just work. Perhaps it could be applied with a grade of adhesive that is flexible and not permanent so if you ever had to get back in you could do it without tearing stuff up.

Another place I might look is in a building materials dept. There are prefab wall systems for basements and other uses. I think the channels that join the wall panels are flexible material and this is a very similar application and may be better than the threshold stuff I mentioned above.

Default Headliner material for 1979 FC

Did Dupree ever reproduce the panel seam covers? If so, how can they be ordered?

Thanks,

Tom

we are working on the locking strips right now still waiting for the color house to get back us on the color of the plastic then we will have them molded

The vinyl for the panels is a slightly different story
There were 2 patterns for the panels and two different fabrics
an early model and a late model slightly different color and finish to the fabric and a different seam in the fabric
The original or early will probably never be reproduced for a number of reasons (cost pattern availability of fabric demand) but most importantly the machine that was used by Bluebird to imprint or seal the fabric was destroyed years ago and it is just too expensive to reproduce it
However the late model stuff is a distinct possibility
Stay tuned
