Default 2006 Date Code-resell value?

If I have 6 tires dated coded 5 to 6 years ago and they are in excellent condition, I believe they are Michellin 12R's, how much should I ask for them when reselling them? Or can I run them longer than 6 years?

There is plenty of tread left on the tires and should be found very capable for someone, not Bluebirds of course.

Anyone every resell their tires, your stories and experience would be helpful.

Thanks everyone.

Some tire stores will sell the dated tires...to a trucker that will wear them out quick. You might get $50.00 to $100.00 per tire. Other stores will take them but no dollars to you. One of our local tire dealers gives dollars if not older than 4 years old. MTCW.

Curt I just sold the six tires off my tag and drive for $80 each. They were 2005 tires. Dealer phoned around and found a buyer for them. Industrial Tire Portland Oregon.

Yes, insist on the newest date codes that you can get, if they refuse, it is time to look for another tire dealer, unless you are stuck somewhere and can't get anything else.

Last year I sold four Goodyear 11Rs 9 yrs old < 15K on the tires, no side wall cracks for $50/ea. Posted to Craigslist with pictures and dates. Guy put them on a Monaco, he did not care about the age.

I just got $30 each for my tags with 2006 date codes back in March. The remaining tread seems to have as much to do with the value as the age. The new tires had a date code of 4510. That was the newest 315's that I could find anywhere in Harrisburg/Lancaster.

Put my 6 Michelins (12R's - all 7-9 yrs. old) on Craigslist. Lotsa calls. Sold within 2 days of posting. Got $125 each. All had 75% or better thread. Truckers eat them up - don't care about age - just thread and no cracks or internal repairs.

Old thread revisited:

I need to put new tires on mine due to age. I will have as many as 8 tire that were mounted in 2014. Not looking at them, but they have a 2014 build date.

They have less than 5000 miles with plenty of tread left. There is no visible cracking or ageing but there is some unusual tread wear. They would not be good for an over-the-road vehicle, but for a dump truck or a log truck they would work.

What do you suppose they are worth?

$100 each (if you want to sell them quick out here)

I got $80 per for older worn down take off’s and $150/each for a pair of 8yr Michelin 11r’s

Or so I was told after the family member sold the tires I gave him to hold up his parked old storage trailer....
