Default Franconia Notch State Park NH - informal mini rally

Franconia Notch State Park NH - informal mini rally

Hello all,

I'm passing this on in case you might be interested.

Looks like we have a mini rally brewing in Franconia Notch State Park in NH for September 24 -27th leave on 28th. This is a totally informal… no itinerary whatsoever. It just started happening so I’m passing it on in case there is interest.

Cannon Mountain RV Park is at the north shore of Echo Lake and is a part of the state park (total of 7 sites with full hook-ups.

This is one of our very favorite places. Just got back from 4-day stay... lots of hiking, biking (paved 9-mile trail), and wildlife. Views are second to none… really.

The park is roughly 9 miles long through a mountain notch with real alpine terrain. Several peaks over 5,000 feet and a significant portion above tree line.

There is an arial tramway to the top of Cannon with observation tower. Quaint little villages and all services within 10 miles. Access to the park is real easy just off I-93.

So far there are three Birds booked.

Here are some links.

There are only 7 sites and sites we already have 7,6,and 5.

There is plenty of parking and dry-camping is a possibility too for many coaches. Water and dumping available to all.

We had this place pretty much to ourselves last Friday through Monday.

Here are some snapshots from the past few days... I’m not too good at photographing bears up close!

Hello Bill and Lisa,

It looks like Jane and I will be retiring to NH this summer. Yep..retiring FROM Florida TO NH. Sounds backwards but we are doing it because our grandchildren are in Keene, NH. And we want to be involved in their lives and not be "long distance" pop pop and granny.

Anyway, count us IN for the mini rally. What type of hookups are available and do we need reservations to camp.

Don and Jane

Hello Don and Jane,

The RV park has full hook-ups (30 amp elec, water, individual dump) for 7 sites and these need reservations. I recommend you make them if you know your going to be there. I don't have specifics on the dry camping yet but I was told there is a different rate for that and there is plenty of space.

Re-read my post it gives a quick rundown and one of the photos is a map of the RV section.

Looking forward to meeting you two and welcome back to NH!

Crit

Glad you can make it!

Thats 4 booked and one on deck. Only three sites with hook-ups left. They are going fast folks, not too many places around where you may get to see a Lisalope!

As I told Bill, Kathy and I are booked into slot 5. We will visit my daughter and son in-law on Wednesday night in Boston, and arrive on Thursday. Then Friday or Saturday visit my son at Plymouth State University, and spend the rest of the time enjoying the park and the company.

We will bring jingle bells to carry when walking in bear country to give the bears a warning. Also we will carry pepper spray. I explained to my wife that checking the droppings on the paths will give you warning if the bears are black bears or grizzly. If the droppings are small and round it is likley a black bear. If they are larger, contain jingle bells and smell of pepper, they are grizzly.

Suska,
I had a problem also. I went to the campground link and followed things from there. It took meto the reservations site, where I entered my information and then was able to log on and reserve a site..
