Default Getting rid of the Microphor - Need toilet advice.

Hi Gang!

Will be heading to Yuma soon to do the second half of the coach electrical system upgrade. During that time, I want to replace the Microphor air toilet with a china bowl gravity toilet. Trying to get the coach set up to do boondocking and looking for toilets that use little water. I prefer one that has the china bowl, will work with the existing waste line which is angled slightly off center as well as working with the waste going horizontal for a little bit (2 feet or so) since the waste tank is not directly below the toilet. A foot pedal operated toilet is not out of the question as long as it doesn't look cheap.

I need advice on specific toilets that someone has installed in their similar coach to replace the microphor. Any pictures of the installed toilet would be immensely helpful. I have a 94 PT40 with the private bath so someone with one of those (or similar) who has done the replacement could really give me some great advice.

My Microphor is ruining the new wood floors that Ernie installed. Every time I try to fix or adjust it, it makes the system even worse. Time for a new simpler toilet as well as a water saver for boondocking. When I get done with this coach, it is going to be a boondocking machine!

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Jerry

Jerry I think Randy Dupree has changed out an air Microphor for a straight drop. If the travel isn't too great then it should work. To me two feet sideways seems a bit far but I guess that depends on the slope as well. I talked with Microphor two days ago and the confirmed that the air toilet does use air to discharge effluent to the black water tank.

oh yeah,I took out a microphor air flush and put in a drop through toilet, the pipe went sideways for at least two feet and I never had a problem with clogs,or leaks,or air compressors.
I had more clogs with the air flush than i ever had on a house or a bus.

I assume the replacement job Randy is talking about is his old 1993, now mine. I can attest that the ~2' lateral works just fine. Just don't be stingy with water. We clogged it up once due to too much "dry" paper being flushed. Eliminate the air; KISS.

I have no idea which one is best,I guess you need to ask the RV store guy which one is easy to fix,and gives the best service, and if they stock parts for them.
Then,if your tall, ask them if they have a riser to raise it up an inch or two!

When we replace our 12V Microphor, I am looking at Thetford Aria Classic or maybe a SeaLand Travelor.

Rick, what brand is in your coach?

TIA,
Liz

I am still trying to replace my gravity toilet with a Microphor.

Once I finally get the microphor installed, my toilet is up for grabs.

I have a full china Sealand Traveler toilet. I think it is a 510+. Works perfectly, and I just replaced the water valve last fall.
