Default Turbo or not to Turbo?

We have a 1982 FC35' Wanderlodge. The coach a new or possibly rebuilt 1995 engine in it. We want to add some HP with a Turbo. ITs a 3208 without a turbo. Can we add a Turbo to it? Anyone done it?

Thanks

Dave & Debbie

Dear Dave and Deb,

Great 3208 write up link below.

If you can get the info from the ID plate. A CAT dealer should be able to tell you to what spec your newer engine was built to.

As Steve said, lots of differences between T and NA

BTW, I thought the 1982's came with a 225hp turbo? Someone will chime in here...

83 was the turbo year for the 3208 in the Wanderlodge, 225HP initially then the 250HP later in the year.

If you haven't already tried adding an extra air intake, it is worth doing in my opinion, check out;

Wanderlodge Owners Group > Mechanic's Corner > FC (Forward Control Unique Issues) > Fc air intake modifications

This the way I did mine;

and the very important piston oil squirters

also non turbo has more compression so if you add a turbo it will not take much to lift a head

The link has the "skinny" on all of the differences between engines. Oil galleys, rings etc.
