Default Power Tech PTS MH-15BB Bearing Replacement

Some pictures of the bearing replacement on our Power Tech PTS MH-15BB in our 1999 LXi. Not a bad job; mostly grunt work making preparations to pull the Kubota/Power Tech assembly and cutting the welds and drilling bolt holes for reattachment of the steel fan/hose/cable bracket. Good opportunity to change out the small squirrel cage fan, fuel pump and fuel hoses and inspect the control box for faulty connections too.

Great pics Dick.
Its not a terrible job,and the power cables are long enough so you don't have to unhook them.

Just before the hurricane we did mine and Ricks, and after WOG Mark did his and so did Jim B.
Here at the warehouse.

What was the bearing condition?

Dick, after Rick drilled a few holes for my bearing job he went online and bought some bolt holes for Marks and Jims bearing job.
Amazon had them in stock,we had them in 2 days.
ACME bolt holes come in all sizes and depths,in case you ever need one.

Bearing condition was in fair to poor condition...grease had slung out of it and when rotating the bearing you can 'feel' the individual balls. I have placed the old bearing back inside the new box and the old bearing is for sale at 1/2 price. Just kiddin...

I plan to be at the Vidalia/Natchez Love-Birds on the Mississippi Rally in February and will bring the bearing along and we can remove the dust cover and seal and do and inspection during our walk around tech session. Guessing the bearing would not have lasted too many more hours and the cooling fan was junk with bad sleeve bearings and locked up.

My fan was also bad,and new ones were not available for a few days,so we converted it to a 10'' car fan, according to Powertech,BB was the only company that requested that fan, they said what it did was blow dust into the unit.
