Default Screen Wire Tension Spring Option / Screen Door sliding panel clip

Hi All,

I am using these wire tension springs on some new screens we are making for The TARDIS. I tried them on one of the two OEM screens we do have to see whether they are a possible replacement for the orginal plastic ones. They do work, but not quite as well as original. I don't know if all BB screen frames were made with the same open-sided extrusion as pictured. If so, the replacement is pretty simple.

http://www.crlaurence.com/crlapps/sh...3&ModelID=8606

I bought 100 because of the big price break. If you want to try a couple, PM me your info and I'll drop a few in an envelope.

Mike

That is a good find Mike, I may have purchased the last batch of the plastic clips that were sold by Wanderlodge Parts just before they closed and I only have one spare that I'm keeping just in case I need one in th future.

Mike,

I wrote to Hehr about 2 years ago about those plastic springy thingys and they sent me some in an envelope free of charge.

You might try that - here is their contacts page, but I don't remember now who I actually wrote to. http://www.hehr-international.com/contacts.htm

If you don't need too many I may be able to spare a few.....

Hi John,

Hopefully they will work for folks. If not, there are a few other options I have found, but most require some frame modification.

Dan and Janet,

Doh!!! I didn't think to do that!!! Are BB windows Hehr?

We really appreciate your offer, but our plastic springs, the 4 that we have, are still in decent shape. I know of a few folks who need them far more than we do!!! We are building the balance of our coach screens (bedroom and living room) from scratch, so we can use a different design.

Like so many Newbie projects, this is a WIP with many unexpected learning oportunities.

I know the FC's windows are Hehr, and by looking at the springs you have I would say that probably everything up through 1990 must be Hehr as well.

I went out to the coach and found the package that they sent them in, and they came from the Plymouth, Indiana window plant.

For anyone else that may need them that email address is : CSHehrIN@hehrintl.com

Phone number is: 574-935-5122

I have included a picture of the ones they sent. (not a great one, but from my phone) It seems to me I had to modify them in some way to make them fit correctly, but they work perfectly. I think I may have had to file them a little at the loop because they were a little thicker than the originals.

Some of my windows still had Hehr stickers on them, which is why I contacted them for the screen springs.

Well, I'm not having any luck with them... here's replies to my emails;

My email sent with the picture of the plastic & metal screen spring.

Hello,

I'm inquiring about the plastic spring clips used on the screens for my Bluebird Wanderlodge. Would you know what model was used in them? From the pics they look like the series 900's?

RESPONSE;

Hello,
This does not appear to be a Hehr product. You can try contacting Bluebird direct.

Hi,
We are the wholesale distributor for Hehr windows and have been given your email request.
This does not look like any Hehr brand part.
Sorry, but we do not have such parts. If there is a brand name on the window, then that is your best bet.
Thank you,

Doug Parsons
