We had a Tripac APU on our KW900 (new price ~10 grand, the APU not the KW). It was a great machine, it does not run constantly, it turns itself on when batteries get low or the engine coolant needs warming during cold nights. Espar diesel heater keeps inside cab toasty, APU keeps batteries up to run blower fan. Also works the A/C. Inverter used to plug in 110V appliances. Fridge was 12V, running fine of batteries (small dorm size).
It was directly plumbed into the coolant system of the truck. It made all the difference of not having to idle your truck and only sipped diesel. Also not running all the time, just when needed. You could set your desired temperature on the control board, or just let it monitor your batteries over days, it cranked when they got low.
