Leave the black and grey dump valves open or closed while in storage between cold weather uses?

First, fresh water blow out, then after dumping the black and gray tanks of any fresh water that went down the drains. I then close the black and gray dump valves, and they remain closed until spring.
Like the fresh water tank there is no guarantee all the freezable liquid is out. If you close the black and gray valves and then start in with the pink stuff, the pink stuff will remain in the black and gray tanks keeping you safe.
Just my opinion.

I have not used them so I cannot comment about taste or smell.

Are a lot of you really drinking the water from the pipes and holding tanks in your rv?
I might be way off base, but no thanks.

Of course. You have the ability to take your water from home along, you might as well. You can sanitize the bus water system. Just a matter of maintaining it.

I carry a 2-gallon water dispenser for drinking and cooking.
I refill it from gallon jugs of distilled water.
The reason for distilled is:
1) It seems to have a longer “shelf life”
2) It can be used it to mix for the radiator if needed.

Yup I drink it and cook with it and give it to the dogs. I have, however, replaced all the plumbing. The original tanks are in place (had them out, too). I sanitize then flush the chlorine out and fill with soft water. No foul smell, taste, or texture. No sickness, either!
