You didn't notice his OTHER problem. The fan for the generator has ceased to operate. So, no alternator and no generator. Dead in the water.

you know,i did read that,i swear i did.
I was just relating what i did,not trying to get him to do it!
I was on the way home, when mine went out,if i was on the way out i would have been paying the big bucks too!
That fan motor is not hard to change,Woody and I changed one on Arleys coach in a truck stop in Amarillo on a hot day,it was all working out fine until a cattle truck parked right next to us,boy did it stink..

Bruce

You can find the fan assembly at any any Granger I believe there is a granger store in Wyoming. Sorry I do not have a number for you. My coach is at our home in Florida as well as all my records. The first owner did replace the fan unit on my coach and I beleive from the records I looked through he paid about $120.00.
As for the labor to R&R an alternator I think that job should not exceed more than two hours to do.

Best of luck,

Stephen,i'm sure it can be done, most likely another bracket would be needed and some other mods needed too.
Those big oil cooled alternators are very pricey.
I have heard of them selling for $5000,a few years ago.
Thats crazy..

Randy,

Looks like Penntax carries an "oil line cap kit". I'm gonna get one.

Peter,
That's the one. That's a pretty good price, too. They've got a $500 core charge (!), but even if your core were no good, the $1200 still isn't to out of line.
