Default Driving Light Bulb Replacement

As my bus continues to remove whatever confidence I had in my mechanical capabilities, I am not stuck on what should be straight forward and simple. How do I disassemble the driving light?

I am no expert on driving lights but from the back image those appear to be Perlux driving lights. My pickup has the brush guard mount version of those which uses the large bolt seen on yours. With them it only a matter of removing the small screw that clamps the lens ring. In your image, yours is already removed. Then spread the ring gently outward to remove it. The lens and the bulb come out the front. Yours may come off the ring as that appears to be your surface mount?

Not sure if that helps......

Brad,

Thanks for the quick reply. So the inner ring comes off from in front of the bulb and the trim (flush mount) piece stays behind?

The PERLUX driving light on my 'Bird are mounted behind the bumper on brackets, so they do not have the flush mount ring like yours.

Whereas you know yours mounts to the body with the flush mount rings and then you have the same clamping ring that actually hold the light Lens, shutters and bulb in place.

Somehow you have to get the flush mount ring to come toward the back from the light housing and the clamping ring before you can entirely remove the clamping ring to get at the other parts and the bulb.

I found on mine that there was an issue with the wiring going to the light itself AFTER I had changed the bulb, so you may want to check for voltage with a test light probe through the Blue power wire covering first, before you try to disassemble the light. I also ended up adding an extra ground to each of the lights mounting stud.

Finally got it. Just had to get a little more frustrated and force the flush mount ring back. I also learned my auto parts store don't cary these lights so I have to drive out to a tractor supply store. So far im 0-5 on my weekend projects.

Sorry I did not respond earlier, Dan. I have been working outside today and just got back to the forum. I am glad John helped and you got it figured out.

Any suggestions as to where I can order the GE 4421 bulb online. I also need the 4411 bulbs as well. I've scoured the hardware stores and even the tractor supply store that is 30 mins out of town. I've concluded that these city folk simply don't need tractor lights. Now it I can only convince my wife to move back to Ohio.

Perhaps you have a local Graingers Store or these links might help:

http://www.amazon.com/100w-PAR46-442.../dp/B003ZAKZ48

http://www.google.com/products/catal...ed=0CFoQ8wIwAQ#

I have had good luck with Grainger and Amazon. You can do a search on Grainger.com or Amazon.com

or you can use the shopping tab of the Google.com page then type in your search.

Your call and good luck.
