Default thread size on Teleflex ZF Tranny Temp Sender

Does anyone know the thread size on the original ZF teleflex transmission temperature gauge sender. I have a new sender from a autometer the size is 1/8" NPT Sender.

You might try calling Precission Transmission in Colmar, PA they are a factory certified & trained ZF shop, ask for Mike Casey.... You'll have to use Google to get the number...

Being a ZF it seems like it would be metric – something like M14 X 1.5?

Thanks John and John. I spoke with Mike, real nice guy he looked up the size for me in less than 2 minutes, gotta love that. John was right M14 x 1.5. Autometer is sending out a adapter. I'll post an update when I get the gauge installed.

I know this is an older thread but do you recall where the sender is on the ZF? I am going to replace mine with the same gauge you have. Easier to know which side or end of the transmission the sending unit it located.

It’s on the edge of the transmission to the left. In this picture you can see the old wire hung around the new one, follow the black plastic wire protector.
This is looking down on left side of the turbo.

Really, so I am getting this from the top under the dog house. Why did you choose to run a new wire vs. using the existing one?

I am going to order the same gauge now and it will be one of my first projects of the season!

I ran a new wire, I used door bell wire I think that’s what Auto meter recommends. You will also need to call Autometer and ask for the adapter for the sender to get to the proper thread size. Call the customer service number today it will take a while to get it up to you.
