Default Hoping everyone reads this.

I got an email last night from a guy shopping for a Bird, hes looking at an LXI with slide.
The slide seal is leaking,or something is leaking air, they assume its the slide seal.

Anyway,he called a reputable RV repair shop and they quoted him $10,000 to replace the slide seal.
They told him you have to remove the slide room from the coach to do the job.
NOT TRUE.
You slide the room in about 3'',they told him 30 hours with a couple of guys.
NOT TRUE, its less than a days work with ONE good tech, yes, having 2 guys makes it easier.

My point is this, before you have a shop do any repairs consult the WOG.
Those slide seal replacements are documented here on WOG,we can save you money and the shop a bunch of time,we know the short cuts and the proper way to do the job.

I have shops call me all the time, asking about repairs and parts,i try my best to steer them in the right direction.

My bad. Reading the WOG too much, or not enough. I got my coach, I found a brand new seal in a big box, under the bed. I need to see what it is. I should change mine before it’s a problem. Everything seems to work right. Don’t hear the compressor running when it shouldn’t.

I do see a little light getting past. When we got that sideways rain in Denver, it flipped the slide room topper back. and I got a little water in the coach through the seal. Then again, I gather the seal, even in top shape won’t stop a fire hose. Just glad it didn’t damage the slide awing. Next time I stay at a place that has wind, I think I’ll use some line and anchor the two corners.

Not unusual to have awning blow back on one end. You are right Chris, fasten on both ends will keep it in place.

General information:
You can get an indication of slide seal inflation by reaching under the slide on top of the support tube. Your finger can push on a small section of the seal to check inflation. Calibrated fingers are on sale at Amazon. Com. They are available from the same vendors as blinker fluid.

These days you are just better off doing your own work if at all possible. You don't really know what level of quality your paying for anymore.
