I'd never convert the old fridge; it is too small inside.

Also, to dispel a misconception, it is not necessary to take out a windshield or remove a seat. Rob Robinson and Peter Haggins came up with a procedure that is slick as a whistle, using the shipping box. Search the forum. It will save you all kinds of trouble and expense.

I can see merit to numerous methods to replace or repair.

If I lost my cooling unit I would look very hard at a Amish Helium Cooling unit. My son has a helium Atwood Refer that works well.

The 12 volt compressors is an interesting alternative. To each their own.

To many mixed reviews for me on the Samsung Refer at this point in time. Might change in the future though.

Thank goodness we now have all these options now.

We're intrigued by the option of the change to DC just to get away from the potential fire issue.

Getting rid of the propane doesn't reduce the risk, but using a compressor does.
