Smile Loving my NEW Safe-T-Plus Stabilizer

A month ago I returned from a weekend in the mountains and found that the drive was very stressful. I love my giant rolling home away-from-home but it can really stress me out when I have to continually correct my steering.
I asked a friend of mine, Doug Thorndike, about what he thinks I can do about it. He recommended that I take it down to our local tire shop for a checkup. This made things even worse because they found that my front tires were wearing uneven. They were able to put new front tires on but unable to align such a large vehicle as is my Wanderlodge 40LX.
They sent me to Dynamic Diesel in Snohomish who they say handles everything all the way up to dump-trucks. I had heard of them before from my neighbor but never followed up on using their services.
The service writer recommended I add a steering stabilizer called ‘Safe-T-Plus Steering Stabilizer’ along with getting my frontend aligned. I was very hesitant, but remembering my recent trip into the mountains I agreed.
They were able to do the alignment right away and scheduled out the stabilizer install a few days later.
How they explained it to me is that there are two big springs pushing against each other always helping control you’re steering. I was able to drop it off the night before and pick it up the evening of the appointment.
Still a bit apprehensive about my purchase I thanked them and headed down the road. Right off the bat I felt the difference but thought, yah yah its only cuz it’s new…
Well I am here to tell ya! I LOVE THIS THING! My wife and I just returned from a week trip to Montana and back, no white knuckle driving this time! I want to thank those guys down at Dynamic Diesel for their professional service and installation of my new stabilizer. They might not always be the cheapest but they always do the job right from others I have spoken to. I have to agree! They helped me perfectly! Thank You…

The Safe-T-Plus is manufactured by Henderson's Line-Up in Grants Pass Oregon. It is a very heavy duty steering stabilizer. It was about double the strength of a Blue Ox stabilizer that had bent and jammed on my coach. Henderson's replaced it with the Safe-T-Plus with "trim control" -- the trim control allows you to hit a switch to 'center' the stabilizer at whatever steering setting you happen to be using -- this compensates for road crown or crosswind situations, reducing the physical stress of holding the coach on course. I was very well satisfied with the Safe-T-Plus I installed on my coach. I also highly recommend Henderson's Line-Up in Grants Pass Oregon for alignment and steering repairs. (I also had a 3-axle alignment and replacement of a bad tie-rod end and drag link. My coach handled much better after the work done by Henderson's.)

I'll second on the safe-t-plus and on Dynamic Diesel. The steering stabilizer cuts wind effect, semi-blast, and is a safeguard for manageable control if you have a blowout. I had Dynamic Diesel change the timing on my Cummins 8.3. Pleased with the service they provided.

Love mine too! Keeps the old bucket o'bolts going straight down the road. Much easier on the shoulders and less overall fatigue.

Default Safe-T-Plus

I agree. Ive had one on my BMC for 3-4 years and it really cuts down on the "wandering effect".

I don't have the "trim control" feature but even without that it is a big improvement in high winds, crowned roads, etc.

One of the safety features I feel good about having added.

Mine came with it. Maybe that's why I don't understand the comments about Wanderlodges wandering. Guess I never had it so good.

One way to remove the wandering Wanderlodge is to fix the caster angle. A two degree caster will keep the wander going, if you have the caster angle changed to 4.5 or 5 degrees you shouldn't have any more wanders. JoSams in Orlando FL. will be able to do that. I had that done to my 97 Wanderlodge 2 years ago and from that date forward I never had to turn my Howard power steering on and the coach drove great without wandering. Side note the right wheel caster angle should always be a half degree more than left wheel caster to take care of the road crown.

Wow! What great customer service!
Back about a year ago I purchased a Safe-T-Plus. I had contacted Safe-T-Plus before and after the purchase for information about having it installed.
I had it installed at Coachcraft by MacDonald and despite their best efforts it still seemed to pull to the right. It certainly wasn't for any lack of effort on their part but after several adjustments I just decided to live with it.
Tonight I got a follow up email from Safe-T-Plus. I told him the situation and that I would be near Decatur GA in OCT. Within minutes I had a response with an appointment and notice that there would be no charge for the service.
Now keep in mind that the Safe-T-Plus was long since bought and paid for and this wasn't a customer who was being a squeaky wheel. This was just good follow up and great customer service. I'm impressed!

Phil,
Crown of the road will do that. Two lane roads normally worse than most 4 lanes. FWIW - I installed mine. Played 3-4 times with the adjustment. If it tracks straight on a KNOWN flat & level road that is about the best you can do . Best I can get (no hands) is about 1/2 mile. It will always tend to pull toward the low side of the crown. Almost all roads are crowned one way or the other for water run off. We seldom drive in the fast lane on interstates where the surface is closer to level and a bit easier to check/test.
The main reason I purchased mine was for added steering control in the event of a blow out Botton line - I'm happy with the Safe-T-Plus

Safe-T-Plus.. money well spent!

From earlier post

"I love the Safe-T-Plus unit! Good comparison for us is having run 101 from Port Angeles to Grants Pass without it and then back on 101 and south to San Francisco. It really made things easier! To me it is as much of an improvement as was the rebuilding of the pan hard rods.

At Hendersons, they install a lot of these. They adjusted it so going down the road the bus wants to return to center. I feel safer with it for sure. I also had them do wheel bearings and oil hubs… needed those, they were starting to fail.

Watch the video of a front blow out. Safe-T-Plus can save your life! "
