My BB has a York style A/C compressor. On the top of the compressor there are 2 ports, one on the left, one on the right. Does anyone know how I determine which is the high pressure and which is the low pressure port? I tried a search here and on the net with no luck.

I think on top of the compressor near the ports are letters in the casting. "S" for suction is the low side.

My experience is large line is suction. Small line is pressure.

Thanks guys. I'll take a real close look before I seal and refill. If anyone else wants to try and revive your dash air I've had some good luck with 2 out of three of my other vehicles. I found a sealant called "Super Seal", around $20 @ Walmart and auto parts stores. I have a 1991 Ford F350 7.3L diesel that the A/C hasn't worked since I bought it 6 years ago. I started out by putting enough r134a in to get the compressor running then hooked up the can of Super Seal, followed by another can of 134a then 1 can of oil, and then topped it off with 134a. Did the same proceedure with my 1999 Suburban. Both have been blowing cold for a couple of months now. On my wife's 1999 Suburban it didn't work. There must be something else going on there because the compressor is running but it still blows warm.
Someone told me the BB dash A/C is worth reviving, I forget how many btu, but on real hot days the only other way to keep cool on the road is run the generator. I'll post how I make out.

Jack on your vehicles that you got back to cooling did you flush the systems, replace anything or just add the r124 and sealer and got it to cool again. The PO of mine told me he had the A/C fixed once recently and it cooled but not now. I think it might be low on coolant. I'm guess it orginally had R12.

before I put any kind of sealant into the system, I 'd use a leak detector and find out just what's leaking. it might be an oring on a fitting or a dry rotted hose.

Both systems that worked for me already had the 134a fittings on them. Just note, I tried sealant before with no success until I used the "super seal".
