FOUND MY SAFE!

Everyday is an adventure of discovery when you own a Bird! For the last year and a half we have searched in vain for our security safe. We have looked in all of the suggested locations up to and including those we got at RATS. Under the sofa, in the bedroom nightsatnds, under the bed, under the closet floor, etc. We got tons of keys from the PO, but none of the barrel keys members said we should have for the safe. I had just about decided our Bird did not have a safe, when lo and behold, I accidently lifted up a slide-in shelf next to the main breaker panel in the cedar closet and there it was. AND a set of barrel keys layin on top of it too! Unfortunately there was no original, signed Declaration of Independence in it, but I was happy and excited nonetheless!!!

Always exciting to find things in your bird. With two prior owners, on mine, there were several "treasure finds" I experienced. Don't believe you would have the same fun with a brand new one.

I had some "treasure finds" also Tommy. Didn't cost us too much to fix.

Every bird I put flooring in, I find at least a pound of screws that the factory didn't feel like picking up. Those and unused butt connectors, wire looms, no money-

I paid for a simple stainless steel woodscrew (#8 1 1/4 long) 23 cents. A box of a 100 is like 17 dollars. A pound of screws make up easily a box, sooo you do find maybe not cash or old treasures, but valuables neverless. Butt connectors and wire looms are also not cheap any more. I found a lot of all that in my coach. Always wonder what about those nice metal screws wedged inside those huge wire bundles and the coach vibrating when on the road.
BTW, you are an inspiration when I look at your photos of your work.

Its one thing to find your safe…it’s another thing to be able to open the new found safe!

Never was able to open the combination safe in my FC when I had it. Tried all the various suggestions found here on the forum with no luck. Was going to take it out and take it over to a locksmith…just getting that thing out would have been quite a job. I think when the coach was built they started with just the safe in place; then built the coach around it…
