Thank you for your replies.

To close off this thread I aired up system using shop air but shop compressor could only achieve 120 PSI and air dryer did not purge.

Then started engine and air pressure (by brake gauges) built to 130 PSI and purged. Repeated multiple times same results. Unit is presently with Florida Detroit Diesel - Allison Fort Myers, FL being serviced excluding looking for house air leaks. Fully expect unit will be roadworthy and I will make Pine Mountain Rally.

Starting new thread 2002 LXi - Air Leaks & Auxiliary Air System(s).

Would appreciate all comments to this new thread.

Dean

Dean, when charging the system with shop air the air dryer will not purge.
It will only purge when the engine compressor is pumping the air.

Also,i have the 6 Toyos here for you.

i think what you guys are hearing purge is the pop off valve on one of the air tanks.
The purge on the dryer is activated by the air gov.
The air gov gets its signal from the compressor.

Of course i could be wrong.

When the Air Governor reaches it cut off point it sends the unloading air to the dryer that in turn causes the discharge port to open. That is the spit you hear with the engine running. When I hook to shop air the discharge air I hear is coming from the expello (?) valve not the Air Dryer.
