I just photograph it! Actually, these are old pics, there's a little dirt on it now! It's even registered with a real license plate!

**** David, your engine room is as clean as Ron's. I guess the insulation and cleanup will be next year's project, after some body work I must do soon!

David,
Just out of curiosity why didn't you put blankets on the pipes or wrap them with heat tape?
I can run my coach for hours and the thin heat tape works so well that you can place your bare hand on the pipes and not get burned, and with the SS pipes rust is not a factor.
Also it keeps the engine compartment considerably cooler.

Hi Kurt,

I may consider it. For the time being I can't seem to get myself to cover up all that SS! In the early days I also wanted to see the connections to make sure there were no leaks. The freshly done Polydamp Hydrophobic Melamine, PHM, insulation is phenomenal. Temperatures in the bedroom are no different from anywhere else in the coach. So far I'm very pleased. Who's heat tape product are you using.

I'll have to look it up. I know it's good to 2000 degrees continuous heat. I still need to do the engine compartment insulation. I never got around to replacing the burned stuff from when my pipes came apart. The heat wrap work so well it really doesn't need it. Getting lazy I guess. I'll find it in the morning. It's been on there now for 3+ years still good and tight. I used SS wire every few inches so it will not unwrap, Your right about the purdy SS pipes the heat wrap is defiantly not good looking

Default You Ain't Right David

All I can say is: A fellow who keeps his engine compartment that nice can't be RIGHT. I am sitting here laughing because my real thoughts are we're all cut from the same cloth. There isn't much in this world that impresses me more then that type of thing. IT'S INCREDIBLE. Beautiful, I am jealous beyond belief. However David. You still ain't RIGHT (me neither) So should we try to fix our problems or just go with it? I'm too old to change that's my excuse. I can't imagine what the rest of your coach must look like. Some time I'll tell you about the fellow I knew years ago who was THE MOST FUSSY PERSON I ever met. Just one example that I recall. Well two. He would sweep the street in front of his house. Now that's over the top in my mind. He also would clean his lawn mower after each use. And I mean clean the lawn mower like your engine bay. He had stuff he used for fifty years and it looked never touched. I could keep going.

I'd be really impressed if he used it as much as Shane uses his, and it still looked like that.

John,

You're too kind as usual. I wish I could take credit for it, but we know who the geniuses are behind the pipes, who developed the engine, who gets the power to the ground, and who wrapped the whole thing inside a glorious bus, and it's all American ingenuity too, designed, prototyped, tested, and manufactured in America. These folks are the heros - me, I'm just a proud owner. Now if only I could use it more, but isn't that a desire that most of us have? I'll admit, with the new baby (5 months old on the 26th) this has been a slow travel year, only 3000 miles, but that's going to change. The bus is still a big part of our lives and we all enjoy it immensely, and we have a grand travel year planned for 2012. Thank you Blue Bird, Detroit Diesel, Duralite, Allison, BHTubes, PittsburgPower, FlexFab, PolyTech, and WOG!
