Default Monument Valley

Next week, we are driving past Monument Valley to Creede, CO from Southern CA. Since we are that close, we thought a detour through the valley would be nice. Any tips for what to see or do? We cannot stay over due to schedule. Any warnings? How long does it take to get through?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Hi Tommy,

No problems at all getting through there. Nice 2-lane road. If coming up from Tuba City, you'll be making a right to go back to the visitor center. There is plenty of parking on the left side of the road back at the center for big coaches and it'll give you a chance to disconnect and take the Jeep for a great ride out through the "mittens". Take an empty water bottle and gather up some of the red sand while you are out there. It's very unique and makes for a great conversation piece! The Navajo's will shake you down for a few shekels- but you've got plenty (or so Rob tells me) and they need the money. See you at OSH.

Thanks Shane. We are passing by and thought it would be too good to pass without at least a drive through. Been there with the Navaho. BTW, Obama is taking all my shekels. We are not going to make it to OSH this year. Too much going on in business and family here in SD. Balloon Festival for sure. And the Q with guns ablazing.
