Talking S60 straight pipe

I took her in for a oil leak and ended up with new straight exhaust. I recently had to replace some flex pipe and after 25 years it was time for a new system. Flange at the turbo was barely hanging there. I'll try it for a month and see. Not much of a video, I really just wanted to see if I could post it.

Already happened! I'm thinking while on test drive...that's really not much louder than before, then the jake kicked on..wow..I wasn't expecting it and at that point it didn't matter if my undies were clean or not

Put a straight pipe on the BMC's Cummins M-11 when nobody had a replacement muffler available about 3 years ago. After listening to open headers on a race car, it's not bad, but the full Jake when going under a bridge certainly does get your attention!!

As far as normal driving, it's 40 ft behind me and really isn't bad. Yours is a vertical pipe though, which probably makes it a little less obtrusive. I probably wouldn't want to be leaving a campground at 6:00 am though!

I suspect the PO pulled the innards out of our muffler. I turn the Jake off coming or going here at home, i don't want to rile the neighbors too much.
I surely cannot resist the urge to let up on the throttle going through a tunnel on the interstate. So far i do not think i have rattled any bricks loose

Kip,

Now that you have lived with the straight pipe for 4-1/2 months, what are your thoughts.

Did you perform the install?
If not, who did the work?

Just discovered my exhaust need replacement...

Thanks,

Daniel, After me replacing the flex pipe I had her in for service and was told the exhaust needed help. I ended up letting them replace the entire exhaust from turbo to stack with a straight pipe. I ended up paying around $400 for stainless. It isn't a hard job and probably could have done it myself for half.
It sounds great, runs fine...but the jake is unmerciful! I'm trying to decide now if I want to try a resonator first or just put a straight thru muffler. At the time he told me 40 bucks more a muffler.

There may be a reason for a straight pipe, but for what it is worth, you can look straight through the muffler Stephen sells, Little if any resistance. Sounds good but it does not scare little children in the tunnel.
