Paul,

You have to click on different links in order to open up the list by counties in Texas, so rather than list the sequence of clicks to get there here is the final link;

TEXAS Structures with Low Vertical Clearance

Make routing easier with TxDOT's interactive Load Restricted Bridge Map and a listing of Current Permit Restrictions.

I haven't listened to them in what, 17 years? Those girls are just way too political for me. Can't say why or John, Rob and Randy would be on me like stink on stuff.

Hi John,

Could the problem some members are having with the Low Clearances link in Thread 3 be because it's an .mhtml file? http://www.wanderlodgeownersgroup.com/downloads/Low%20Clearances%20by%20state.mht

I think .mht files don’t work right with some browsers - another “Gift” from Microsoft.

The http://www.aitaonline.com/Info/Road/Low_Clearances.html link you put in Thread 1 is .html so it might work better for some members.

WATCH OUT FOR THOSE LOW CLEARANCE STRUCTURES

The DISCLAIMER message should be always on your mind when using any kind of Low Clearance list, I still do some consulting work for my old customers and I'm constantly reminding them that my routes that I used years ago could have changed since then and the DOT of all of the states are always repaving and some of the time they just repave on top of the old pavement, which reduces the clearances in some places, so use these references as purely a suggestion and not a fact. The same goes for marked clearances that are posted on structures, they may also be out of date.

The 17' 2" high old Chris Craft "Woody" shown above we moved from Portland, OR to Chesapeake, VA, we traveled 5,888 miles in 16 days because of all of the low clearance structures that we had to detour around.

John, that worked. Thanks. I don't understand it, but glad someone does.

The routes end on VA 168 and I believe that we took it to Atlantic Yacht Basin, the date on the routes file is 2002, but that could have been when I filed it on the computer. The customer originally wanted it delivered to Annapolis, MD, but we couldn't get permits to take it that far, so they put it in the water at Chesapeake and floated it up to Annapolis, it was a completely restored yacht that the couple lived on.

Default Height Measurements of 'Birds, Low Clearances, Bridge Heights

At this years RATS I had my height measuring stick on hand to measure the different heights of some of the 'Birds in attendance and while I just drove the golf cart from site to site as I could no longer physically raise and lower the stick numerous times, so Thomas Rembert did all of the measuring with the help of the 'Birds owner deciding where the highest point on his or her coach was at, then Dick Gideon recorded all of the measurements.

Here below I showed how the Measurements would be taken and then indicated that I strongly suggested that an additional 6 inches be added to that measurement and a sign of some type placed either on or near the dash in front of the drivers viewing area for a quick reference, when approaching a low structure.

Disregard the thin red box outline in the last list, it showed up when I copied and pasted the image.

I know somebody took a picture of Thomas and Dick while we were going from 'Bird to 'Bird and I'd like to have it posted here as those two guys really saved the day and Thomas in particular was getting pretty tired after we completed all of the measuring, the stick even though it is made up of fiberglass, it has about 6 sections to it and then adding the weight of the arm makes carrying it around and then raising and lowering it time after time can take its toll on a person, thanks again Thomas and Dick for helping out, I couldn't have done it without you.
