Default Paint codes for 2000 LX 40

Hello,

I am having some painting done to the lower edge of the battery compartment door. I have looked in the BB book and in various cupboard doors for the paint codes and can't find any. Does anyone have suggestions on where to locate them or what the codes might be for this coach? i am using a smaller shop and I don't think he has a paint analyser. He can probably match it by eye but he would prefer to be as exact as possible with original tint. I have done a search and read numerous threads, which haven't helped for location. It does seem that the paint brand is BASF, and I did read that Fort Valley probably has the original information for sale. Is that correct?

I know there is a twin coach in Oregon and I have made contact with the owner but his coach is a different colour in that area.

I am attaching a photo for the paint scheme on the coach if that helps.

I have access to a very limited number of paint codes that John Redden and I salvaged after the Wanderlodge factory auction (Emphasis on very limited number). If you can't find your paint code sticker, I can dig through those for you but I would need your coach body number. It should be something like "F124780" etc.

Thanks to both of you, very helpful. The base number has a dent on it, making it a little hard to make out but:

Base 79850
Strip 79857
Light 18138/V2
Dark 1206/V2

Coach body # - 126786

I will pass that info on to the painter.

I looked but I didn't find body number 126786. For what it's worth, I did find (on a couple of other coaches) that the 79850 was called Med. Taupe Met and the 79857 was called Med Gold Met - I didn't see the other two colors listed.

I don't think that's the way to go . Those paint codes are from when your Bus was new. Ron R and I spoke the other day about this and felt the new cameras were a better option . Maybe Ron will chime in and Paint a Clearer Picture

That makes sense too. Older paint probably fades. This shop is a bit of a hot rod spot for resto/mods. I will trust to his experience for the match. Original will get him into the ballpark.

Here is some information for you about paint fading, what Al was talking about.

Two years ago I had an automotive paint supplier mix one of my colors, the one on the roof. It didn't matter much, being on the roof, but it was obviously darker/brighter. I am currently in the process of refinishing the roof (later thread coming when completed). In doing so, I removed the goat rail fairings and found the paint under them matched the paint shop's formulation exactly, but the difference on the roof between under the fairing and out in the open was the same difference.

The paint shop doing my bus was pleased to get the original paint description as a starting point. But they used a new camera, and results were a perfect match. They did have to do some tweaking, they said.

Therefore, the camera is the way to go, and a paint supplier who knows what he is doing.

One of my paint supp;iers says the cameras do not work (he does not have one)
My other supplier has one and we have used it a dozen times and it worked out perfectly, every time.
But,we do clean and wax the spot we take a pic of,having a clean shiny spot helps.
Or so they say.
