Default 8V92 exhaust insulation question

We have insulation covering our exhaust system. Is this beneficial? Makes it dificult to inspect the engine compartment.
Thanks!

If your talking about a silver blanket wrap it's to keep the heat in the exhaust system instead of your engine compartment.

I wonder if spraying the underside of the bed/engine compartment with the radiant barrier that they use in a home attic would reflect the heat well? Along with the insulation that is there already...

Adrian- I just replaced my crumbling, black foam with mylar-faced 1-1/2" thick flame retardant foam insulation sheets from Stephen Birtles. The heat is way down in the bedroom after this improvement. Regarding the exhaust wrap- the two other coaches that we did had no exhaust blankets, ours did. My pipes were like new after 27 years. I recommend keeping them.
