Default Flat towing rwd hotrod (4L80E)

I have a high horsepower hot rod build in progress and I would like to set it up to tow behind the old PT. It is RWD and has a 4L80E, and you're not supposed to tow those. I refuse to disconnect the driveshaft, so I need to come up with a driveline disconnect that will handle big time power. The Remco disconnect is not going to cut it.

Is there another disconnect out there I haven't seen?

Has anyone ever used an electric pump to circulate transmission fluid? All the accounts I've read on the internet leave me thinking that most of them were not quite installed properly, let's say. I think it would work fine, you wouldn't need much volume.

Tim - Maybe this really is the best idea, but it would be nice to just unhook and go without dealing with the dolly. Maybe this is the sacrifice I have to make.

Reid - It's a semi-float 14 bolt, so I can't remove the axle shafts. Maybe I should look into converting the axle to a full float setup, I'm sure nobody makes a kit for that axle. I can't replace the axle as the entire back half is designed around it.

Crit - it's 2wd. I have seen Jeeps with [aftermarket] lockouts on the rear axle though!

A circulation pump will work fine if installed properly so it actually pushes fluid to the output shaft bearing. You can't just put an in-line in the cooler line though. Talk to your tranny man.

Rear tire size? Won't break anything if car doesn't hook. Lube pump is the obvious solution.

Mike - 345 M/T drag radials for the drag race setup. On trips they are just street tires. It weighs 4,000 lbs and has a 3-link rear, twin turbo 540 on E85. Dyno in the springtime, but it will be well north of 1,000 rear-wheel. It should hook and go, hopefully.

I am thinking the pump is the way to go, too. I just can't find anyone with much good to say about it yet. Technically it seems like it would work fine.

If not going far, run the hot rod engine at idle while towing.
