Default 3.55 climb

[QUOTE=1984Lodge;559700]My bird has 3.55 rear, and that is about spot on 2200 RPM at 75mph.. and on a lonely road in "Mexico" I had it up to 80 no problem and it was still pulling, this was before my HP jump too.

Jeff, I know this is a pretty old thread however, i just looked at on with 3.55 rear. How does your pull on grades? i'm in the rockies and i feel the 3.55 would crawl up the passes? Maybe i'm wrong though but since this one isn't running i'd like to ask someone at the least!

You do realize that bus will weigh about 45,000lbs.
and once you get to the top you have to go down the other side.
So,with that in mind,define "passes".
wolf creek pass?
Loveland pass?
Why don't you do this.
Start your own thread, tell us who you are,why you want a bus and why you want to fly up a mountain pass!

Randy,

Not looking to fly up a mountain I just don't want to be going 25 up or either.

As to your other questions I can answer. I'm looking at a PT40 but I'm hesitant on my location because I've had bad experiences with chat groups (any group) seeing a post with a member asking questions and then going in and just taking it for themselves.

I did a search for 3.55 rear and only 2 threads popped up and since I know one of the members who made a comment on here is still active I asked the question. I ask because I live in Utah and there's a lot of flat, a lot of continuous 1%-3% grades, and then there's a lot of 6% grades. If I was in the Midwest I wouldn't question the 3.55. seeing how this one isn't running I wanted an idea of how it pulls so I wouldn't be blindsided should I make a purchase then can't really drive it here as it won't pull the grades.

If you want a coach that is tough, safe, has a good support group to help you,buy a Bird.
If you want a bus that will go faster up a mountain pass, buy one with a 500hp engine.
The bed thing is fixable.
If you want to go fast up a mountain, the 6V92 is not going to be your friend.
Yes,i have owned one,for 10 years and i went all over the country in it,it will get you there and get you back, but fast up a steep grade its not.

I can't remember anybody here ever buying a coach out from under someone else.
good luck.

Thank you,

I'm just looking to have real expectations. I get it, y'all field a lot of newbie questions. I absolutely tried to do searches before posting new threads. Nobody likes new threads that have been answered multiple times over.

Your answer with the couches is what I needed. It was a genuine question because I thought I was maybe doing something wrong. But having a seasoned operator say yeah those may be custom had me now looking at replacements and their cost. So thank you.

it is a requirement to have a signature, if you want full access to our files, information, and membership listings. It would also be a huge benefit to you to post this wanderlodge since we may know the history. Being blindsided is a real possibility unknowing purchasing and experiencing $30k to 40 K the first two years, We are only trying to help, , the members share their knowledge generously.

I got the v6 in a 1983 and its great
I run with the trucks.
Going up it pretty much runs It self
I just watch temp
Going down you need to think
Jake brake and proper gear
Wanderlodge is not for everyone
Lot of tinkering
But they have the wow factor
Even people that know nothing love the way that look
That said I’m not a big fan of the brown colors ( sorry jeff)
But even their cooler then all the rest
One thing to keep in mind more power more money!!!
If you get one don’t be afraid to come back and add input
I was put off at first because a lot of us are getting older and we can be grumpy
Once you learn to navigate the site most all questions have been answered at some point
One last comment no
Two are the same one person experience maybe different then yours

It's listed in Utah.

Owned for 11 years, hasn't been on the road for 8. Been in covered storage since. Asking 10k OBO, Wasn't able to turn over as batteries are gone.

That is the best deal I’ve seen
If you don’t want it I’ll jump on it
Don’t wait!!!
Do you will spent at least 10k more to get it up and going but you will have a killer ride for cheap
