Default Big Dog = Broken FC Window

A brief lapse of judgement means I now need two new windshields!

I tied one end of a long rope to my passenger side mirror, the other end of the rope was tied to my hundred pound German Shepherd. All was going well until he spotted something he wanted to chase and took off after it.

As you can guess, yes the mirror rotated around into the passenger windshield and shattered it. The impact was so hard that it even cracked the driver side window from one side to the other. Did I mention he is a pretty strong puppy?

So...where is the best place to get the correct windshields? And what am I looking at cost wise?

I already checked with my insurance company and I don't have "glass coverage". They said I can turn it in on my comprehensive, but the cost should be less than my deductible (at least I hope!).

When I needed windshields, I called the nearest Guardian Auto Glass rep, gave them the numbers off of the windshields and they took care of everything else.

The passenger side windshield number should be about where that State Park pass is and in that same place on the driver side windshield.

I attached a sheet with FC windshield part numbers but verify with your actual numbers.

All they needed on my windshields were the 3 digit numbers below the DOT number.

I have a 91 WB so these numbers don't apply but it shows what you're looking for:

In 2010, my windshields were $160.85 each but the labor and materials to install them was an additional $580.

Just about any place that does school bus windshields should also be able to help.

Nationwide Auto Glass
Avid Auto Glass
Same outfit different names
Just used them and they were very good to deal with a easy to contact.
720.238.0285 Joe Bob Hunter was one of the guys I dealt with. He’ll put you in touch with the right person. There may be cheaper folks but not better service.
