Default New Bird Owners In Texas!

I just wanted to introduce myself and family: We are the proud owners of the FC35SB formerly known as “Buckeye Bird”. I am a U.S Navy veteran (electronics) and have worked in the oil and gas industry (subsea equipment) for the last 16 years. My wife (Renee) and I have been married for almost 19 years, we have four kids, our daughters are 17, 16 and 15 and our son is 13. As you can imagine, there is never a dull moment at our house….
Renee and I have never owned a motorhome or a travel trailer. But, I am definitely a car guy, we are up to 8 cars in the family including my baby, a C6 Z06 Corvette and my next project car, 88 RX7 Turbo II. My parents bought a new class C motorhome in 1971, and our family spent weeks every summer traveling the country. Those were great times that created great memories.
After purchasing the Bird in early December I made the drive from Columbus, Ohio to Magnolia, Texas (1169 miles) by myself. Based on what I had read here, I knew I didn’t want to drive at night and wanted to limit myself to 500 miles per day. That plan worked out real well. I spent the first night in a Flying J south of Nashville with the generator running, which was ok; the second night was spent in a KOA in Texarkana, which was even better. All in all, it was a good trip with no major issues, great technical support/advice from Dan (the previous owner) and others here.
So after several weeks of seeing the Bird in our driveway every day, we were finally able to get away for a few days between Christmas and New Year. We made reservations at the KOA in Montgomery, Texas, just 20 minutes up the road. It turned out to be a great two night stay, the kids enjoyed it, Renee began planning the next trip in January and I became more familiar with the Bluebird systems (only calling or texting Dan a few times a day – maybe more?).
Our second trip was last weekend, Renee and I went to Huntsville State Park, very nice. We learn more about the systems each time we go. Oh, and it has been really cool having the neighboring campers come by to admire and ask questions.
The next trip is our annual “guy trip” to Florida with my son, for some MLB Spring Training Baseball.
Thanks to all who make this site what it is and for sharing your adventures. Hopefully I will be able to make technical contributions and share our adventures in the future.
Life is good!

Congratulations and welcome to WOG. Hope your Bird brings your family as much fun as our birds have brought us. Happy trails ahead.
