I have brought this up in discussion before. The only place I don't smell gas in the diesel tanks are the trucks that run over the road. They buy the fuel on the road at the Flying J and Loves and the bigger chains. The reason is their diesel tankers are only carrying that product. No chance of mixing.

I can only speak for my local suppliers but they admit that there have been times they can't get all the gas out of the tanker before going and filling with diesel for the next delivery.

Just different ways of thinking, and as usual, I don't know what is best.
Tim, I think you know what is best and I recall now that you said that before. I should have remembered, but didn't. I guess I need to be more careful about that point. I will have to get Michele out to help me smell the fuel, because my smeller is as bad as my hearing. In all seriousness I think that is definitely something to consider and think about.

Lee and others. I can't remember if I posted this before so here it goes anyway.
Murphy Express & PenFed card - - - after the card is denied go into the desk clerk and let them know you need additional fuel but the card is denied. They will tell you they can set the pump for a total ($600 in my cases) and you can now use the card inside. Explain you get the 5% discount ONLY at the pump - - - - - and ask for the 5% cash discount inside. It is called CUSTOMER SATISFACTION and will show as such on your receipt. If you pump $400 the PenFed card is charged $380. I have done this several times in different states. I do carry the receipts with me in case the clerk or attendant is not aware of this little known practice
Just might save you a nickel

Thanks

Default Pen Fed

FWIW, 5 % on that Pen Fed card is hard to beat when diesel is between $3.60 and $4.00/gal. And everyone with pay at the pump takes Visa.

Sometimes you have to run it twice or use the KC system, but for $0.15-$0.20/ per gallon, I'm in.
