Default When will the traffic light change to red?

The pictures that accompany this post are animated so give them some time to load so that you can better understand what I'm describing here.

We all know that it takes a lot more distance and time to stop our 'Birds, so here is a tip that I used when I was escorting a Oversize Load to help the driver know when a traffic light is going to change from green to red in our direction.

This only works if there is a pedestrian crosswalk signal at the traffic light, so if you can see the cross streets WALK-DON'T WALK light and it is flashing that is a good indication the the traffic light is going to change to red. Some have just the WHITE WALK - RED DON'T WALK FLASHING THEN STEADY DON'T WALK.

Some pedestrian signals feature a WHITE WALKING MAN - FLASHING THEN STEADY RED HAND the flashes indicating the number of seconds remaining to cross the street.

Some pedestrian signals show a WHITE WALKING MAN -RED FLASHING HAND WITH COUNTDOWN RED NUMBERS - RED STEADY HAND the numbers showing how many seconds are remaining for the crossing phase. These signals have been piloted in many cities (such as Washington, D.C.) and other cities around the United States, and the current draft update of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) will require that countdown signals be used at all intersections within 10 years of the manual being adopted (anticipated early 2010).

Now if you happen to be traveling with me and I'm leading the pack, I may use this method to give you a warning when I see a traffic light is going to change to red.......................along with mailboxes and telephone poles, signs, etc. that are close to the road...............................and low branches....................I JUST CAN'T HELP MYSELF it is hard to break old habits

I'll say it for you.......

OK Mr. Smarty Pants doesn't the amber light do the same thing?

I have found that the crosswalk signal usually starts to flash in advance of the amber light and we have all experienced that extremely fast green-amber-red light change and some of us even have award certificates presented to us as a result of not stopping for that extremely fast changing to red traffic light and some of us even have a picture of proof to go along with the award presented to us.................................

How do you know when a stop sign is going to change?
