Default Flying cows

You are all familiar with the saying,”Gosh I'm glad that cows don't fly”. I also assume you know why?

Well I can assure you that they don't fly, but I am not certain how you would describe a cow traveling at 65 miles per hour sideways about 3 or 4 feet above the ground. Yes, they can do this, and do it very often. As we were heading out of Roswell New Mexico we happened to get behind a slow moving cattle truck. You know what I mean, the tractor trailers with lots of big vent holes to allow the air to circulate so the cattle can breathe. Naturally I passed him up as the odor was pretty ripe. Then we turned onto a 70 mile per hour highway and he passed me on the left. Suddenly, without warning, a brownish cloud appeared along side the truck. At first I was confused, but it soon became abundantly clear what was happening. A cow traveling sideways at 65 MPH was relieving itself through one of the big vent holes in the side of the truck. At 65 MPH it was blown into a mist, with chunks. The chunks seemed to drop quickly to the road, but the mist persisted. S&%T! I exclaimed as I swung right as far as I could and was startled as my tires hit the 'rumble strips' on the side of the road all while trying to reach the front vent switch to close it. More chunky clouds appeared intermittently as the truck sped on ahead. I think I avoided the mother load, but a good bus washing is in order.

Now if I remember correctly, if I dump my holding tanks on the highway I can get a big fine, but it seems cows are exempt?

In the western states it is called the open range law. The cow is always right no matter what.

Gardner I talked to the folks at Pine Mountain today and they told me we are free to wash our Birds while at their park. In 1980 I was traveling on TD to Shepards AFB Whichata Falls Tx with my small Beagle sitting in my lap and hanging out the window (no AC). Same scenario but with pigs.......what a mess and what a smell. Poor dog got a snoot full. I needed to clean the interior extensively.

Another thing to watch out for is "fresh chicken" trucks. You've seen them I sure. Pink water running from the drain holes at the rear of the trailer. That chicken blood will do a job on your clean Wanderlodge.

By the way Gardner, cows don't know they can't do that. Unable to read you know.

Better to have that happen while you're in the bird than on your motorcycle. For some reason, beef just doesn't taste the same for a while!
