Default Fuel Solenoid, Dayton Gen Relay, Thin Light Ballast

I noticed the other day someone was looking for parts similar to some of these. They are new in the box parts I had purchased for other Wanderlodges that I have owned and will not work on my current coach. I don't know what they are worth but would like to see a WOGer get them instead of selling on EBAY. They are as follows. Kohler Fuel Solenoid Model 1502 PN 12D6U1B2S1. Dayton PN 5X841M Relay(goes in control box for gen), Thin Lite Ballast#1B-716. Can email photos if needed. Make a reasonable offer.

That was me but Shane already fixed me up with a spare he had one the shelf and I already ordered a relay from Grainger. I'll keep this in mind if this doesn't work out but I think I am in good shape now.

Good Tim. Glad Shane was able to help out. I knew I had this stuff just had to find it to be sure what it was.

I also have a 315 80r 22.5 tire and wheel if anyone needs a spare. It is at Parliament if anyone wants to go look at it. Dan can show it to you.

Did I say Shane? Silly me. I meant to say Dan. Dan sent me the solenoid and it showed up today.

Default Photos of Perkins Fuel Solenoid

Here are some pics of the solenoid that Mike has for sale. Mine is a newer design, but I believe that this one was used on Perkins/Kohler units in the PT and FC coaches prior to 1985.

The genny is fixed and all is well. I got the new solenoid installed from Dan and it worked like it was supposed to however, the control circuitry was not holding the solenoid in the run position. Before getting the new solenoid, it didn't pull back at all. As others had mentioned, I check for a good ground connection. All appeared to be well with an ohm meter although the diode to ground required me to remove it during my continuity test.

The last item to replace was one of the small 12v relays. I believe it was relay "C". It showed a high resistance on the activation coil. In the end, the list of failed parts from the solenoid sticking and the generator trying to crank for 7 to 10 minutes was: Starting solenoid, start/stop solenoid, glow plug relay and a 12 volt relay ("C"). I wasn't just replacing parts for fun. I was able to test each one of these for voltage, or lack of voltage and verify they were bad on the bench. I hope I don't have to face all that caranage again.

To make sure this doesn't happen again, I have rigged my bus with a remote air fill to allow me to air up the bus prior to starting the generator. This way if it does hang again, I can quickly open the genny bay and pull the quick battery disconnect that I installed on the starter.

Once again a big thanks to the WOG (for being here), the helpful advice and Dan for the soleniod.

Tim

Mike- since I have an 8v- I'll take that alarmstat from you. I can pick it up at RATS- or sooner, if you wish.
