Default PTO Woes!

I have been gathering parts and info in the PTO and Hyd pump for some time. I just split mine today and it was a good thing I did. The pump input shaft is total toast! I am surprised it is even still working!
I had to order a couple big wrenches to get it the rest of the way off so pics will come when it's on the bench.

I will be doing a wet spline conversion on the new stuff when it goes in.
Still on the fence about remove the seal or drill the hole.
I have spares so I plan to use them and rebuild the ones I am taking out.
I can buy the PTO output shaft and the pump input shaft with related seals and such for around $500 instead of paying $2000 for new components.

Glad you found it. You can tell new owner that they need to check, but many just will not do it. Not sure on yours, but some will separate without draining oil. I would guess yours is the same as mine, transmission pump and pto.
Holler if I can help.

A few squirts of Chelsea Grease on the front end will save you around $2000 on the back end.

Got the Pump out. Had to order a 2-1/4 inch wrench.
"Last Legs" comes to mind!
Those 12 point bolts on the PTO are giving me gas now! Best I can tell they are 10mm 12 point.

I did find out that you can order parts (input and output shafts) for the pump and PTO. Looks like I can rebuild both with all new seals and bearings and new shafts for under $500. I have spares to install so I am going to rebuild the old ones.
Need to get bus running first for Flywheelers. Everything is going slow because I am depending on others for parts delivery and making hoses and such.

I am going with Paul's method. Home made wet spline kit and pull the seal in the PTO.

Good job Randy, you will not regret going with wet splines. Nice to have a backup plan also.

Got the PTO off:
Here is a pic of the destroyed output shaft.

Just in case you think .. that doesnt look that bad her eis a pic of the new PTO

I had to make a plug for the trans hose. I believe this would pretty much drain the entire trans if you don't plug it.

I lost about 3 quarts of trans fluid when I removed the PTO so you will want to have a gallon on hand for top off.

Now for the numbers:
My replacement PTO is a 265 model
The one I took off is a 266 model
and the new ones are 267 models
The key is in the rest of the part #
You need an XDFJP-M5 this is a must
The last 2 digets can be GK for hollow greasable shaft or XK for solid shaft.
The one I took out is a 266XDFJP-M5XK

As far as replacement shafts. Yes they can be ordered but I believe they will take a long time to get

More issues! The PTO had spun a bearing. The input gear had about 1/4 on end play at the bearings. It trashed the case.

I disassembled this PTO as a test. COmes apart no problem as long as you have a press.
