Default Kohler gas genset fuel filter?

On the way home from RATS, the dash air quit, so we tried the genny. Started and ran for a minute then quit. Wouldn't run during trip. When I got home, I tried again and it seemed to run great for 30 to 60 seconds then suddenly stopped. Felt like no fuel. I disconnected gas line attachment before fuelpump and let it dribble. Worked the arm a few times and opened and cleaned carb bowl. Seems to be cured.

I am wondering if there is a fuel filter somewhere on the Kohler 7.5's or if anyone has added one? I was thinking of one from a Fox body Mustang. They are about the size of a 8 oz Coke can and are metal.

John, I think the Fox body, or as far as that goes, and late model ford has a push to connect fitting in each end of the filter. You could get a small inline filter form any automotive parts store (NAPA, Car Quest etc), They are available in different sizes for different hose diameter.
Filter can't hurt.

blow back in the tank

make sure that the suck line is free and vented on tank before too much changing

i like the fuel inj filters----i think they are 10 micron instead of 30 for the others

got 1 on my JD mower~!

lots of room for hose clamps!~

If you go to a speed shop, you should be able to get one that has a cleanable element, if you're so inclined.

I guess one concern is whether the fuel pump will be able to suck thru the filter and where to mount it. My fuel hose seems to be a hard plastic type rather than more rubber like.

The gas generator has an oil pressure switch that will kill the genie if the pressure drops. If the oil is low it can cut out while making a tight turn. Check the oil level.

First thing checked and good. Full up with good pressure. I have a gauge mounted (inconveniently) right above the fill.
