Default Retarder - Works Great... BUT :-0

Ok.. Got the retarder installed, took a 1500 mile trip to the Balloon Fest and got to play with it a lot. Really impressed with it's performance and wondered how I've lived without one all these years!

But, just how good does it work? I had to find the real test. I took it through the Salt River Canyon in Arizona, up to Ruidoso, NM but still wanted a REAL challange! So I found a 14% grade to test it out on!

That's right.. a 14% grade! I was so excited about the test, so impressed with its performance that I forgot I had to climb out of that thing!

With a LOT of effort at 7mph I was able to barely climb out, maybe I'd better start thinking these things through before I jump in next time!

Michael,
Just in case you don't have the manual, position 3 and 4 should be restricted to 'short periods of time' and then released to allow it to cool. Also it is reccomended that you drive for 5 minutes at least after a long downgrade to cool the unit down.
