If your not going to keep something like this stock (and who that uses a RV would short of a museum curator?) then you want to see nice updates such as you have done. I applaud you on keeping it in the family and like the mods. Love the floors.

Very nice. I like the updates, and the fact that you can work on it inside.

How cool to own such a unique piece of Bluebird history and see that it is just as functional as it was the day it was built! Nice job, Mike!

Hello everbody, I am the owner of the BB Inn that John Finn posted the pictures of. The motorhome was purchased by my grandfather in 1972. He passed it down to my father, and it has been in my possesion for the last 15 years or so. It sits on ford frame and has the original Ford 330 engine, manual transmission, and Onan generator. there have been a few modifications through the years. The front overhead bed was taken out, a new dinet set was placed in it, and the rear was converted into queen bunks. Since I have owned it I have repainted the exterior, rebuilt the engine, transmission, brake system generator and running gear. I replaced the gas fridge with a electric fridge and replaced the water heater and converter. I had the interior formicad and put in wood flooring. Another addition made by my father was a second A.C. unit in the front where a roof vent used to be.
It may not be fast or high tech, but it does the job. I actually thought about selling it prior to rebuilding it but am glad I changed my mind. it definately turns heads on the road, and at a campground it is a great conversation piece. I have had the hardest time finding any info on it at all. I have no idea what it would be worth but it has become priceless to my family. I use it about 6 times a year and hope to keep it on the road for years to come.
Mike, John Wyatt has a few company sales brochures he picked up at the auction, I'm sure if you sweet talk him he may send you one. He was nice to me at RATS because he know how interested I was in them. The Blue Bird Inn was a very limited number I have heard 12 - 13 units total. Their concept in marketing was to be a presales approach, build a few units send them to dealers for display and set back and wait for the build orders to come in. Well they were way overpriced and could not compete with Winnebago so they never made it off the ground. I heard the Luce family basically gave them to the 12 major bus & RV dealers at the time as a gift for their dedication to the Blue Bird line. I believe the brochure shows the BBI with GMC, Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge, and the International chassis. I have seen a couple Ford units over the years and not knowing other chassis were used I may have passed by a few more giving them very little attention. Good luck and thank you for sharing yours with us. It's a keeper.
