Default muffler

Is anybody running a stright pipe with a 3208 , i was wandering if i take the muffler off if it would run better and better mpg. i figured if the 6v & the 8v run better why wouldnt my cat but i was just wandering if it did befor i went through the trouble of removing it .

I am currently running a straight-pipe on my '83 turbo 3208. It is relatively quiet until I mash it. Climbing up steep local town roads in residential neighborhoods is likely unsettling for the residents. The turbo seems to have a little muffling effect. On a Non-turbo I would think the noise level would be pretty high with nothing to restrict it.

so far, nothing has improved or hurt our mileage. Be it no muffler, harder tires, towing, not towing, it's always about the same. However, it sounds great with no muffler, our truck shop loves it.

Remove it kindly, test it in town and on the road...you can always reinstall it.
